Who are Digires?

We are a small non-profit organisation based at Newcastle University in England.

We produce digital material for those involved in the training of research workers, veterinarians, and others who work with animals. We produce QuickTime Video Clips and Image files available to download. The resources can be accessed directly from a web based front-end or can be removed and used in Microsoft Powerpoint presentations or viewed individually. These resources are used in the training courses run at Newcastle University, both in seminars and practical training sessions.

Our aim has always been to make resources available as quickly as possible so that trainers can begin to explore ways of using the material in their courses. Our intention is not to produce broadcast quality material nor to produce full interactive tutorials, but to produce good quality resources at a low cost.

Our resources are distributed on a "not-for-profit" basis, and this is made possible thanks to the generous support of our sponsors.

Who are your sponsors?

Our sponsors include 3R Research Foundation Switzerland, BVA Animal Welfare Foundation, AstraZeneca UK Ltd, Institute of Animal Technology, GlaxoSmithKline, Laboratory Animal Veterinary Association, Novartis International A G, The PetPlan Charitable Trust , Pfizer Inc, Solvay S.A., Merial, Doerenkamp-Zbinden Foundation, The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council and the Prince Laurent Foundation

Why can I no longer purchase the BVA - Practical Animal Handling CD?
We have created a free online version of the Practical Animal Handling CD which can be found both on the BVA-AWF website and on our sister site www.ahwla.org.uk (Assessing the Health and Welfare of Laboratory Animals).
Can I pay by invoice?
No. We have decided to stop accepting orders via invoice due the time it takes to process each order. We have also had problems in the past with non payment of orders. We are a 'non-profit' organisation and rely on the money that we charge for CDs to be able to continue offering this service.
What are the delivery costs?

All of our resources are now only available to purchase from this website as a download. If you place an order then you will be sent a link to download the files as soon as we have received payment. This is automated so is available at any time.

Do the resources you sell run on both Windows and Macintosh platforms?
Yes.
What forms of payment do you accept?

We gladly accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, or regular account payments all through PayPal.

How secure is this store?

This store uses PayPal for payments, and PayPal automatically encrypts your confidential information in transit from your computer to ours using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) with an encryption key length of 128-bits (the highest level commercially available).

Do I need a PayPal account to purchase from this store?

No, you are not required to have a PayPal account to purchase from this store. Although if you already have a PayPal account you may use it.

Can I use the material in my own presentations or on my web site, and can I give copies of the discs to colleagues?

All of our resources can be used in your own presentations.

If you want to use any of the materials in publications, then you need to contact us for permission. This will generally be given provided it is a not-for-profit publication.

If you want to use the material on a website, then please contact us to discuss this.

If you want to copy the resources for distribution within your institution (for example for students on your lecture course) then you may do this without any need to contact us for permission, although we would appreciate hearing how you are using the material.

You may not charge for access to any of these resources, and you may not distribute them to other institutions without our permission.
